Hi, My name is Dr. Tinna. I grew up in the east bay, a California native through and through! For me, dentistry is a way to take care of people and to connect with the community in a meaningful way. As a pediatric dentist, I love being able to develop long-lasting relationships with my patients, and provide them with continuing care as they grow up. I have a great passion for this role, and truly enjoy my work.

A two-time UCLA Bruin, I studied Physiological Science as an undergraduate before receiving my D.D.S. degree from the School of Dentistry in 2005. I continued my education at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where I focused on the specialty of Pediatric Dentistry and served as chief resident. During my residency, I spent my free time volunteering in Brooklyn’s Head Start program for kids. As a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, I’m currently board-certified for my specialty.

After completing my hospital training I returned home to the Bay Area to teach dental students and provide patient care. I feel blessed to be able to do what I love!

Some of my fondest memories come from my service trip in Fiji, where we travelled by boat, plane, truck and on foot to reach various remote villages to provide dental care. The kids gave the biggest tackle hugs and I am ever grateful for that experience. I hope to return soon someday!

In my free time, you’ll find me hiking and playing with my soulmate dog, Aka.

Hi, My name is Alfonse Doan, D.D.S, or “Dr. Doan” for short. I grew up in Southern California and am the youngest of 5 siblings. From an early age, I’ve had an active imagination and was lucky enough to have a nephew and nieces to run wild with. We would make the most awesome forts out of layers of blankets on top of arranged couches, hopping from one after another while pretending the floor is lava. Sometimes we'd just run around for fun until someone older yelled at us not to! Enjoying time and helping care for my nieces and nephew led me to want to work with kids. I basically never want to grow up! Yet, here I am all grown up.

My older sisters and brother have been great role models throughout my life. Two of my siblings decided to become dentists and helped me see what it might be like to someday follow in their footsteps. Envisioning a career for myself as a pediatric dentist was a no brainer! I studied hard in college, made a lot of sacrifices, and got accepted to my dream dental school, UCLA! Throughout my four years there, I devoted time to my studies, developed and fine-tuned my clinical skills, as well as volunteered in my personal time by working underserved communities both locally and globally. I’m proud to be part of a dental team that provided care to distant underserved communities in Minnesota, Alaska, New York, Africa, Asia, and parts of South America. My hard work paid off with a postgraduate position in pediatric dentistry at NYU, School of Dentistry. After two years of rigorous and immersive training, I graduated and achieved my dream - becoming a dentist and getting to work with kids. I’m also happy to report that my nieces and nephew are in their early 20’s now, we talk regularly, and I’m still their favorite uncle.
